Strike Force held their Open Media Workout Wednesday January 27, 2010 at American Top Team of Ft. Lauderdale, located on 201 SW 7th Avenue Fort Lauderdale, FL. In attendance and taking questions from the media were Frank Shamrock, Robbie Lawler, Herschel Walker, and Bobby Lashley.
I asked Walker if his P.R. tour has been overwhelming for him. His press conferences started in Miami, followed by New York, Connecticut, then California.
“It’s been different, but I want to bring more recognition to the sport. People don’t realize this is a great sport. It’s not brutal like people think. It’s a sport of technicians. It’s a sport of guys that are really competing. Where else can you find a sport where you have five sports rolled into one? You have Boxing, Karate, Judo, Jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. The people who do this sport are technicians and I think they deserve the credit. This is a very competitive sport.”
Bobby Lashley was asked what was his strategy against his opponent, 22-12-1 Wes Sims. His answer was
“I’m taking Wes Down”
Robbie Lawler was accompanied by training partner, former UFC Welter Weight Champion Matt Hughes. Lawler’s last fight was in June. Hughes was asked if Lawler being away from the cage so long would be a factor against opponent (24-6-1) Melvin Manhoef. Hughes said he didn’t think so. It would all depend on how Lawler felt when he stepped in the ring.
“If Robbie feels that he is on top of his game, then he is going to come out with his hands raised.”
